The Family Resource Center is a ONE STOP center for locating community-based programs for youth and families.

BACKGROUND

The Family Resource Center was founded in conjunction with a multi agency (Florida Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ), Florida State Advisory Group (SAG), Florida A & M University, City of Jacksonville, Christian Association of America, Inc.) initiative to reduce minority representation in the Juvenile Justice System. In virtually every state, at every stage of the juvenile justice system, youth of color are over represented and receive disparate treatment, particularly in secure confinement.

Florida A&M University (FAMU) Department of Social Work and its Disproportionate Minority Contact (DMC) Initiative established pilot sites in Gadsden, Jefferson and Leon County.  Click the links to the left of the page to learn more.
